Quick Fix Guide 03 ยท Wi-Fi connected
Wi-Fi is connected, but nothing loads.
You are not imagining it. Your device can be connected to the little box in the house while the internet beyond it is still down.
What is probably happening
The internet box needs a restart, the service is having trouble, or one device is stuck on an old connection.
What to try first.
- Try one website on one other device, like a phone or tablet.
- Restart the internet box by unplugging power for 30 seconds, then plugging it back in.
- Wait five full minutes before judging it. The lights need time to settle.
- Turn Wi-Fi off and back on for the device that still will not load.
What Emily writes back
Hi Mary,
Your device can be connected to the Wi-Fi box in the house while the internet service beyond that box is still down. So the first job is to separate those two things.
Here is the steady check:
- Try one website on one other device.
- Unplug the modem or internet box for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
- Wait five minutes for the lights to settle before testing again.
Do not press the tiny reset button. That can erase settings, and we do not need that yet.

What to send Lumaneta.
Short and plain is fine. Do not send passwords, one-time codes, card numbers, Social Security numbers, or private banking details.
- Which devices work and which do not.
- The color of the light on the internet box.
- The name of your internet company, if you know it.
