Quick Fix Guide 07 ยท Bluetooth
Bluetooth will not connect.
Bluetooth has a dramatic little memory. Most fixes are just making both devices forget the old handshake.
What is probably happening
The headphones, speaker, car, or keyboard is still paired to something else, or the old pairing got stuck.
What to try first.
- Turn Bluetooth off on the phone or computer, then turn it back on.
- Turn the speaker, headphones, or device fully off and back on.
- In Bluetooth settings, tap Forget or Remove for that device.
- Put the device in pairing mode and connect it fresh.
What Emily writes back
Hi Mary,
Bluetooth connections can get stuck remembering the old connection. The fix is usually to make both devices forget and meet again.
Try this:
- Turn Bluetooth off on the phone or computer, then back on.
- Turn the speaker, headphones, or accessory fully off and back on.
- Use Forget or Remove for that device, then pair it again.
If it is a car, send me the car year and model too. Cars have their own little routines.

Short and plain is fine. Do not send passwords, one-time codes, card numbers, Social Security numbers, or private banking details.
- Phone, computer, car, or accessory model.
